Alisa N. Yasin

Principal Attorney

Alisa Yasin is a strong champion for her clients.  From the first meeting through case resolution, Alisa uses her extensive legal knowledge, creative strategies and vast experience to deliver successful results.  As one client observed, “Alisa is professional, thoughtful, strategic, pragmatic, responsive and very experienced in the law and the DC courts. She is also very cognizant of the human impact of the work she does, which I deeply appreciated.”

Alisa handles all areas of family law, including adoption, assisted reproductive technology, child custody, child support, child protective services investigations, and all aspects of divorce matters.  While she is a staunch supporter of collaboration to resolve family disputes, Alisa stands ready to fiercely advocate for her clients’ financial, business and personal interests through court intervention when dispute avoidance methods fail.  Alisa also draws on her extensive public service background when navigating complex custody cases, including those involving allegations of child abuse and/or neglect, when serving as a passionate advocate for parents and children in crisis.

Clients and colleagues alike have recognized Alisa for her professional, pragmatic and detail-oriented approach to complex cases.  In addition to being recognized for her talents by Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers, Alisa has also been retained by prior adverse counsel to assist in their own family disputes.

Alisa has a robust public service background. Before joining a firm to practice Family Law, she was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jeanette J. Clark in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Court.  Alisa also served as a legal extern for the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia in the Child Protection Section, as well as a law clerk at the Children’s Law Center in the Guardian Ad Litem Project, where she assisted in the disposition of several neglect and abuse cases from intake to the final adjudication.

Receiving her Juris Doctor, With Honors, in 2011 from The George Washington University Law School, Alisa was the President of the G.W. Law Association for Women, the Vice President of Student Affairs of the G.W. Student Bar Association and a student attorney in the G.W. Domestic Violence Project Community Clinic. She also served as a Research Assistant to Professors Naomi Cahn and Catherine Ross working on family and reproductive rights issues, and she was recognized for her work in Naomi Cahn’s article, No Secrets: Openness and Donor-Conceived ‘Half Siblings.’  Alisa received her Bachelor of Arts Summa Cum Laude from Arizona State University in Political Science and Sociology, where she was a Presidential Merit Scholar and Capitol Scholar.

In addition to serving her family law clients, Alisa also serves as an Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University Law School where she teaches Family Law Legal Drafting.  Alisa enjoys bringing her practical experience to the classroom as she helps guide and form the next generation of family lawyers.

Alisa is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Florida.
